But he knew that Lord Shiva was powerful and invincible, He knew that if he is powerful like Lord Shiva so he can achieve his goal. Adi done a tapasya to please Lord Brahma. When Lord Brahma appeared before him, he was unable to express his desire clearly. Brahma took advanatage of the ambuity of the words and granted him the boon, but with the twist that made him invincible only, when he was in the form of a demon, not in any disguise. Adi was aware of this limitation. He thought he was ready to face Lord Shiva and kill him. Armed with the power he got from Lord Brahma, he went to Kailash, the abode of Lord Shiva, in the guise of a snake. Since snakes were allowed to enter Kailash freely, he managed to enter Kailash freely. But when he tried to enter into the presence of Lord Shiva in the guise of Parvati, Lord Shiva recognized him and killed him instantly.
